Since 1997, Contessa has been celebrating dreams - the
passion for hair. This November 2, 2008,
Contessa held CONTESSA 20 at The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in the Grand
Ballroom. Looks-Magazine was invited to
share in celebrating this event produced by the Salon Magazine. As the crowds of these restless artists came
together, over a thousand stylists came to showcase their talents in the best
of hair, nails, makeup, etc. The host,
Bill Rowley made an entertaining MC over the course of this prestigious
evening.
The black tie gala consisted of 23 categories, including
Canadian Hairstylist of the Year, Elite Master Stylist, Makeover Colourist,
Avant Garde, Multicultural (just to name a few). The reason that Contessa brings this all
together is so that we can celebrate the beauty talent industry. It’s a place to bring together, share,
inspire and create opportunity. It was
so amazing to see all these professionals come together in the Grand Ballroom
and smile, laugh, and enjoy each other and their accomplishments. It gives all of them a chance to build mutual
respect, and know that talent exists in all of Canada.
The goal to excel in hair included sponsors like Farouk,
salon 52, beauty systems, collega aveda, l’oreal, matrix, TIGI, ISO, elevate,
kms California, CND and Schwarzkopf to name a few. There was also a great presentation with
skipping ropes, boxers, school uniforms, ballerinas, white dresses and BIG
HAIR.
To complete the CONTESSA 20 celebrationThe Official
Afterparty happened at Rockwood, not to far from The Sheraton Hotel, only a few
blocks down (only two to be exact). So
that was also a great way to end the night.
