Schwarzkopf Professional ESSENSITY Inspired by Nature Contest

Edmonton salon wins

After months of submissions and hours of judging, one stylist’s inspirational work stood out from the rest. Kristy Nickerson, of Chrome Spa Salon in Edmonton, has just won the Schwarzkopf Professional ESSENSITY Inspired by Nature Contest.
“My inspiration came from the long drives I took through the prairies with family. The fields that just went on forever, and the way the sun would rise and set over them.”
To create her winning style, Nickerson used the new Schwarzkopf Professional ESSENSITY styling range. The range contains the purest certified organic essences & essential oils and is free from artificial fragrances, silicones, paraffin/mineral oils and parabens. ESSENSITY color is the first fragrance and ammonia free in-salon colour range with more than 90% naturally derived ingredients.
“I am currently in love with the ESSENSITY Texturizing Mud, it gives great light texture. The Intense Curing Mask is also amazing. The professional colour is full of shine and I especially love that there really is no smell. My clients also enjoy that the styling products and shampoos have a light scent. Another great quality about the line is that the colour tubes and developer bottles are recyclable.”
As the first-prize winner of the ESSENSITY Inspired by Nature contest, Nickerson will be flown to Toronto where she will re-create the winning submission, only this time she will be hired a fashion photographer, professional model, makeup artist and wardrobe consultant. The photoshoot will be featured in a two-page spread in Salon Magazine. In addition, a $500 donation will be made to her environmental charity of choice. The entire package is valued at $10,000.
Nickerson’s mind is already spinning with ideas for the Salon Magazine shoot. “[One of my ideas is] walking through a ripe field of wheat, with the sun rising in the back and a mist over the field...but I would love to collaborate.”
There were also 3 Regional prize winners for the ESSENSITY Inspired by Nature Contest. Those who scored the highest in their regions were: Shawna Russel from Mint Hair Lounge in Port Moody, B.C. in Western Canada, Antonio Forte from Antonio’s Hair & Spa Zone in Mississauga, ON in Central Canada and Karine Brosseau from Coiffure Creation won for Eastern Canada.
All 3 winners were awarded an ESSENSITY prize pack of $1,000 worth of ESSENSITY products, an energy audit for their salon and an assortment of environmentally friendly products.
