After over a decade of thrilling hairdressers and clients alike with editorially inspired products, Bumble and bumble turns its attention to redefining a medium it has always viewed as dated: hair gel. Tired of the stuff of eras past that sticks to hands and flakes in hair, Bb. introduces two modern interpretations of the genre: Bb.Gel and Gellac. While these sculpting tools are
rooted in the simple tradition of hairstylists’ gels, they are capable of thoroughly modern textures, techniques and finishes.

In search of a fine sculpting gel, Bb. exhausted their stylists (and chemists) – until one magically balanced polymer was brought to their attention. It features four perfectly-proportioned components with decidedly modern abilities: flexible strength, spreadability, shine and memory. When they saw how it worked in an elegant formula that could hold firm all day or be brushed out into free-flowing forms, they knew they finally had a gel worthy of the Bb. name: Bb.Gel – a perfectly modern rendition of an old standby.

As an extreme lacquer for helmet-like hold in editorial sessions, stylists experimented with a raw material called Gafquat 734 that was hell on models’ hair. To help them maintain their creative daring without damaging hair, Bb. invented Gellac (yes, it’s as potent as it sounds). Gellac freezes shapes with a lacquer-hard, glistening finish. It’s great for intricate, expert work (think spikes, pin curls or meticulous marcel waves) and just a dab works for everyday styling. Don’t worry – this one washes out with any Bb. shampoo.

Inspired by these timeless styling possibilities, VP, Senior Artistic Director Howard McLaren directed a futuristically noir film short starring the inventive duo. Coiffed by Bb.Editorial Stylist Sabrina Michals and shot on location at The Seattle Public Library (an architectural marvel by Rem Koolhaas where Bb. is one of the first to hold a shoot) the film’s dark glamour showcases
the many talents of Bb.Gel and Gellac.

Visit bumbleandbumble.com for the premiere and to buy. Bumbleandbumble.com is the only authorized place to view extensive how-to videos for these styling breakthroughs and more. A selection of campaign images are included on this release – a preview of great style to come.

Bb.Gel, 5 oz. , and Gellac, 4.2 oz. premiere March 9, 2009 at Bb.Network Salons across the country.

With over 30 years in the industry, Bumble and bumble was founded in 1977 by hairdresser Michael Gordon as a New York City salon known for its inventive cuts and link to the fashion and editorial world. Today, the company includes a complete haircare line with a full range of shampoos, conditioners, styling and treatment products, as well as The House of Bumble, which houses an additional NYC salon and Bumble and bumble University, which provides both business and design education to its Network of salons. The products are coveted by beauty insiders and editorial stylists around the world and sold in over 2800 salons worldwide. Bb.Products are also available at select specialty retailers such as STUDIO at Fred
Segal Los Angeles, Colette in Paris,10 Corso Como in Milan and Space NK in UK.

Dehydration Therapy helps longer (older) hair (no matter what age the person) weather the environment, the washing, the brushing and the heating as it grows farther from its source of nutrients.

The Problem: For long or hard-to-manage hair, chemicals aren’t the only culprits. Dryness, breakage, frizz and dullness are common complaints even among color virgins. Studies now show that degradation of lipids and proteins are due to environmental impurities. Aging also plays a part; just as skin requires moisturizers as we grow older, so does hair to maintain its lustre. Of course, heat-styling and sun exposure take their toll too – and long hair is particularly at risk.

The Solution: Bb.Treatment Dehydration Therapy restores health to the sites most prone to moisture loss – the scalp, the cuticle and the ends (which can be years old) – and rebuilds their natural moisture barrier while nourishing and helping to protect. Consistent use of this multidimensional therapy helps dull, brittle hair and longer hair become shiny, supple, stronger and more cooperative.

Why It Works

Hydration
Attracts moisture to the cortex
and reinforces hair structure with a
Hydration Complex (Phytantriol,
Panethenyl Ether Ester and Panthenol)
combined with wheat proteins
and starches – all carried by mineralrich,
ionized water.

Shine Renewal
Restores integrity deep into the layers
of the cuticle, helping it to retain
water and making hair smoother,
shinier and more supple with our
Lipid Complex (Ceramide 3, Linoleic
Acid, Phospholipids and Cholesterol).

Protection
Protects from environmental,
ozone and heat-styling damage
with antioxidants including Vitamin
E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Japanese
Knotweed (Polygonum Cuspidatum)
Root Extract and Aloe Vera (Aloe
Barbadensis) Leaf Juice

Introducing Revolutionary Matte and True Shine Finishes: The New Spectrum of Styling from Bumble and bumble.

Landmarks in hairdressing are rare. So is the opportunity to broaden a stylist’s palette so significantly that it alters the future of the craft. Adjectives such as shiny and matte have long been applied to color cosmetics, but never have the vastness in texture and finish been applicable to hairdressing. Until now. Bb.Shine and Hair Powders help to broaden a hairdresser’s range and are key to innovative and modern styling. Bb.Session Stylist Laurent Philippon has spent his career experimenting with varieties of finish and is proud to add these to his long list of product creations.

BB.shine

Brilliant glimmer. Deepest dimension. Sultry movement. This versatile hi-sheen texturizer makes the degrees of shimmer
endless. It adds sophisticated polish, loosens up a style that looks too done or makes hair glisten like new.
New, ultra-fine mist technology allows for feather-light finishing and keeps even the finest hair types from falling flat. The
silicone-based, fast-drying and long-lasting formula keeps flyaways in check and static at bay.
Carry Bb.little Shine in your purse for ‘round the clock brilliance. (You thought lip gloss was addictive!)

Hair Powder

The hairdressing company that brought you modern matte finish gives a cult product an amazing new upgrade.
New Hair Powders offer an easier application and an additional shade to better match all haircolors. They add unusually sexy va-va-volume, extend the life of a blow-dry, absorb excess oil and provide a dry texture that keeps pins and clips from slipping (so styles stay put). Five shades enhance or shift hair color – these fantastic (and fun) forms of temporary color can be used to blend away roots between color appointments (Hallelujah!).
Purse-sized miniatures are perfect for touch ups on the go. Powdering your nose? Why not hair, too?
White white, silver, platinum, ash and champagne blonde
Blondish darker blondes and lighter brunettes
Red all shades of red (adds rosy tones to brunette and blondes)
Brown chocolate, mahogany and chestnut
Black inky brown, asian, hispanic, afro and goth
