Michael Crispel, owner of earth, a salon by michael crispel, has always believed that everyone is in titled to a high-end and pampering experience in the heart of Yorkville without the attitude - thus the birth of earth. Michael's training in precision cutting, styling, and make-up artistry has led him to create cutting edge looks in his Yorkville salon, as well as in television and photography for the past 14 years. His progressive style and humble attitude gives earth its life. Clients are pampered from having the luxury of serine surrounding and massage, but most importantly, they are in the hands of a highly skilled and creative cutter. Pairing up with michael's experience is his alignment with KMS California. Michael is a master educator for KMS California traveling North America teaching the KMS culture and techniques to salons and artists alike.

Initium.Hair

Initium.Hair means the beginning of creation, which is also the beginning of a collaborative effort of three partners into a venture they've designed. The Initium.Hair team wants to provide good service in hair care that caters to an individual's unique style and personality. Filled with bamboo plants and Phalaenopsis Orchids that arrived when Initium.Hair opened in Summer 2007, Initium.Hair strives to be a place of inspiration.

The creative team consists of four members: Ken Lam, Wilson Lee, Eric Lee and Lip Lam. They are all fully qualified, and have been working together for well over eight years with the exception of Eric Lee, who joined the crew four years ago. The group works as a team when creating hair and hair styles.

The high-ceiling salon contains a simple black and white theme with the client in mind. It consists of eight feet mirrors (slightly bigger than most salons), seventeen chairs and four shampoo chairs set at the back (a separate grey area Lip Lam calls 'the special place,' because it is neither black nor white). The salon has a layered look, therefore it is set with a style approach to hair care. Wilson Lee says that, "It is a place where specifics come together and become one piece." Thus, the equation becomes, Creation + Customization = Fashion.

Initium.Hair has participated in the Chinese Beauty Pageant, as well at Catwalks. They use L'Oreal products, as well as a Japanese line imported from Japan. This year, as well as previous years, they have contributed to University Idol 2008 by taking care of the hair styles for models and participants. Initium.Hair is located at Warden and Highway 7 in an Eco-Environment HSBC Building. Help the environment and your hair at the same time.

DBK Salon & Spa II

The grand opening of the new dbk salon took place on Sunday, January 13, 2008. It was a lavish gathering with all associates, stylists, friends and family. Looks-magazine.com was there to snap some photos, meet the stylists, and mingle.

THE LOOK

A trendy salon decored in rich earth tones: red, oranges, light wood tones. The salon sits low on York Mills Road, and there is a patio at the back for those outdoor breaks. The three shampoo chairs are set at the back near the patio, next to the colour table. The entrance of the salon gives way to the eight chairs that have full length mirrors.

THE INSPIRATION

Coming from a family specialized in hair, the dbk team members decided that to set future goals. They wanted to take dbk salon to the next level. Inspired by other salons, companies, and by the achievement of the generation before (the parents), the dbk team members took to achieve new goals.

THEME

The hair theme that dbk salon works around is based on creating an individual look to suit each customer needs - this means merging their physical needs and lifestyle, what they do on an ongoing basis, to find a hair style that works best for them.

LOCATION

The DBK team members have been looking to expand for a while. When the opportunity in this neighbourhood came, it worked well for the demographics as well as the easy access from their other location at Victoria Park and Lawrence. The new location is at York Mills and Leslie in Victoria Terrance Shopping Centre.

STYLISTS

All stylists have their own uniqueness and each has a specialists that makes them unique in the dbk team. The names of the sylists are listed: Emirson Bekirovski, Tony Mplias, Frank Bekirovski, Iliri Bekirovski, Ace Velicaria, Ehsan Mirhooshangi, Mary Minaudo, Sara Morgado.

THE FUTURE

To take the fundamental hair training program and trade and share ides with other sylists and those in the business. . . . And to expand if opportunity permits, without jeopardizing the quality and level of work.
