Hi everyone,

We were wondering how much do you tip for your hair and beauty service(s)?  Do you give 15% or more or less for the service?  If it was hair service, do you tip the assistance for shampooing your hair and how much do you usually tip them as well?

If you had a spa service, do you tip as well?  if it was a spa service over $500, how would you tip them or would you tip them at all?

If you knew the person that was serving you was the owner, would you tip them?

Tell us what you think...

I usually tip 15% for my hair service and usually give 2 to 3 dollars to the person that shampoo my hair.

I've always found this to be uncomfortable, I usually tip 20-30% whether I liked or disliked the service purely because I don't want to insult the stylist. Is there actually a guideline?

It is uncomfortable!! I never know what I should do.

I usually go to ulta, when I pay the front desk I've been told I Can't tip. Its a touchy confusing thing. I've left the store and snuck back a bit later to walk to the back and give my stylist cash as a tip.  Amount usually depends upon how much I liked them.

Im a 20 percent plus tipper as well, regardless if its a owner or not. I do tip my hair wash person but  I believe that the stylist should be responsible to take care of their help:) A $40.00 hair cut would actually run me $50-$55.00 with tips to the people who serviced me.

Funny that I rarely get tips as a MUA. Sometimes I will get tipped by a bride. But honestly, nobody ever tips the makeup girl! When I started off my career at the makeup counter, I used to get asked if people could give me tips. I told them no but they would buy products instead. I wonder why more people don't tip Makeup Artists. Do they feel tips are only limited to Salon or Spa services only?
